Whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg secured his place in US history in 1971 when he leaked seven thousand pages of classified, top secret documents to the New York Times. Those documents are known as The Pentagon Papers – a Pentagon-commissioned report of the United States 30-year involvement in Indochina that led to the Vietnam War. They revealed a massive government cover-up.
June 13th, 2016 marks the 45th Anniversary of the release of the Pentagon Papers series.
On this edition, we hear from Ellsberg delivering a speech to anti-war activists at the Crawford Peace House in Texas. He reflects on civil disobedience advocating for people to blow the whistle and go to jail in order to save lives.
