Given all the natural and manmade disasters of Biblical proportions just in the first half of this decade, a lot of people are saying a lot of prayers. In the United States, it so happens that most of those praying are Christian. Even if you’re not a Christian, but you still care about the fate of the planet, it’s worth understanding how the power of faith shapes society’s attitudes and behaviors.
On this special edition, the first of a two-part series, we journey through the reddest county in the nation – Orange County, California. Along the way, we visit a homeless shelter run by a Catholic relief worker, the Charismatics – Christians who believe in miracles and faith healing – as well as politically passionate churchgoers and grassroots organizers.
