The nearly 43,000,000 young Americans between the ages of 18 and 30 comprise about 23% of the electorate. A strong youth turnout at the polls has the potential to swing the presidential elections of 2004. On this edition of Making Contact’s ElectionWatch ’04-a monthly special from the National Radio Project-we conduct a roundtable discussion with young activists and grass-roots organizers about youth voting behavior and efforts to mobilize young people around the 2004 presidential elections.
