Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” Carlos Mauricio also believed this to be a universal truth, even when his life unexpectedly plunged into darkness 20 years ago. He was one of the few political prisoners who survived the most brutal period of military repression in El Salvador. More than 75,000 people died, and countless others were tortured or disappeared from 1979-1992.
On this edition, correspondent Jon Watanabe chronicles Carlos’ remarkable journey in search of justice and, ultimately, healing for himself and his country.
