Medical researchers and drug companies use millions of animals each year for laboratory experiments. Government agencies require that animal tests only take place when other methods are unavailable, and the animals need to be treated humanely. On this program, we take a look at the Animal Welfare Act, and current debates about whether animal tests are necessary and reliable enough to ensure human health.
